Tjuvstart and Røverpost

Teamwork with Hanna M. Thuestad, Tuva J. Skjervø and Sofie Fernande S. Kvitberg

Service design - Teamwork - 4 weeks - School project 2023

Task:
How can we motivate inmates for change and ensure they have a successful reintegration into society, so that they eventually become good neighbors?

Result:
Tjuvstart (a premature or early start, sometimes involving a sneak peek) and Røverpost (robber's post) are new services for inmates in Norwegian prisons, designed to facilitate the transition from incarceration to society. This is achieved by moving the focus from the inside to the outside earlier in the sentence process, providing essential information, and fostering motivation

What I have learned:
This was our first student project where we took responsibility for the entire process ourselves. We took the initiative to set up meetings and interviews with the stakeholder and learned a lot about planning all phases of a design project. I gained an understanding of how important it is to allocate time for each phase. Additionally, I learned a lot about the criminal justice system and how design can play a crucial role in society. This project showed me how much design can influence and improve important societal areas.
