Systems Oriented Design - Teamwork - 7 weeks - School project 2024
Task:
Use methods from Systems Oriented Design to develop an understanding of what South Sudan needs to progress in the right direction.
Result:
In this assignment we have utilized methods from Systems Oriented Design, to assess the situation in South Sudan, and identify leverage points and interventions that we hope can bring out positive changes. We have chosen to focus on education as our main theme.
What I have learned:
There is much to learn through desk research, but it doesn’t provide a deep enough understanding of the country’s traditions, culture, and daily life. We have also been aware, and have had it confirmed, that authorities may filter information, and that limited press freedom affects the flow and credibility of information. These reflections have been central to us throughout the process, and we have continually reminded ourselves of the importance of being aware of our own backgrounds and possible underlying prejudices and biases.
Learning about this unfamiliar topic and exploring new methods has been highly rewarding. However, delving into such a serious subject has been challenging. Nevertheless, facing these challenges has provided an invaluable learning experience.
