Yr
redesign

Interaction design - Individual - 2 weeks - School project 2025

Task:
Redesign a delightful weather app ointerface

Result:

The redesigned Yr app shows a clear, simple structure that is easy to navigate. By removing unnecessary details and allowing users to customize their experience, the app becomes more intuitive and efficient for those who want a quick weather update. Prioritizing simplicity, personalization, and a refined visual identity, the update gives users greater control over their experience. The result is a seamless, tailored interaction that makes weather updates effortless.

Improvements:
• Fewer pages to make key information more accessible
• Summarized content for clarity, reducing unnecessary details
• Removed graphs that were harder to interpret
• Modular widgets for a personalized experience
• Retained Yr’s original colors but introduced new visuals and custom weather icons to differentiate it from other weather apps with sky backgrounds

Inspired by Apple Weather and Apple’s Control Center, I aimed for a sleek, user-friendly design that enhances clarity while maintaining Yr’s unique identity.

What I have learned:
In  this project, delight has been a key focus, understood as an unexpected reward, a surprising yet positive experience. I have learned that reaching a neutral design requires reduction, while adding delight is an intentional process of enhancing the experience.

Small thoughtful details like visual refinements, subtle animations, or personalization can make an interface more intuitive and enjoyable. Delight does not happen by chance, it is carefully designed to create a more engaging and memorable experience.
