Bunny Bum
Industry and graphic design - Individual - 2 weeks - School project 2023
Task:
Replace the plastic packaging on a chosen product with carton
Result:
In the "ProCarton" project, I chose to work with diaper packaging because the diaper section in grocery stores is almost entirely composed of plastic packaging. Bunny Bums diaper packaging is intentionally designed to be visually distinctive and playful, in contrast to the sterile plastic packaging commonly found in the diaper aisle of grocery stores.
The design is specifically targeted towards children, and the packaging is folded instead of glued, making it easy to dispose of in paper waste. Bunny Bum adds a fun element to diaper changes, as the rabbit takes shape when the perforated ears are pressed up, and the box is opened.
What I have learned:
This project stood out because it was a competition, and it was especially fun to work with packaging design. I had little experience with graphic design as part of my studies, so it was exciting to give it a larger focus here. I learned to design packaging, both conceptually and in practice, by going from developing a design in Illustrator to creating a physical product by gluing, cutting, and folding it in 3D.
