Internship 2025 - Nationaltheatret - 7 weeks -
Cross-functional team with me as interaction designer and four developers
Task:
Design two new websites for Nationaltheatret; Ibsenfestival and The International Ibsen Award.
Result:
Based on two distinct visual profiles, both challenged and further developed, the websites were restructured to present information more clearly and visually engaging.
Ibsenfestival site takes on a playful tone, using the logo’s mark as an interactive visual element across buttons, highlighted quotes, and key text. Inspired by newspaper layouts, it carefully integrates serif typography, multi-column text, and bordered image cards without fill.
In contrast, The International Ibsen Award carries a more professional and prestigious character, conveyed through its color palette and a unique frame shape, two soft and two sharp corners, applied consistently to images and content cards.
What I have learned:
This summer I’ve learned a lot about collaborating with developers and how to communicate and argue for design decisions. I’ve gained insight into what can be challenging to code and how the order of design deliveries can be adapted to the development process. I’ve also learned the importance of scaling (designing for mobile, tablet, and desktop at the same time) and testing early in the process, even in a project that is highly visual and seemingly static. It has been challenging to work continuously under time pressure, but I’ve become better at prioritizing and collaborating on what really matters.
